Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
